The OCU President Address at the Graduation Ceremony of 31 August 2023

Dear graduands, family members, and friends,

Welcome once again to the Open Christian University’s virtual graduation ceremony. Today, the Open Christian University happily announces that we can send out 17 certified ministers, 44 associate ministers, 61 Bachelor graduates, 15 master graduates and 4 Doctoral graduates in different Christian fields of learning. All of you come from different nationalities, Christian denominations, and fields of ministry. We are very humbled by your trust in us as your training institution and are pleased that you have accepted the invitation to take part in this virtual celebration.

Today, we want to pay tribute to the outcome of your work, your commitments but most importantly your obedience to step into His ministry.

We all know it wasn’t easy to arrive to this day and we cerebrate because you have done something important. You have completed an international, challenging, top-level study path. We put you to the test; you put yourselves to the test. So, this academic outfit and this ceremony took so much study, so many tests, assignments, final projects… so much serious and determined work. But you did it, with your commitment, ability, and spirit of sacrifice. Thank you and Congratulations!

Now, today is the day that marks the dividing line between the past and the future for all the graduating students. The past ends today with your courses and the future starts right away with your missions to nations, and indeed in your society. The past has equipped you to face the end-time challenges and beak barriers in ministry. The future holds intensive work of service to others. The past has been a long and intense journey, one which I hope has enriched you from the personal mission and Christian world view. The first results are already evident. Many of you have already had a significant progress in your divine mission, careers, and business ministries. Everyone has surely received some useful encouragements for your missional progress.

Now, being your fellow servant, and without the pretence of teaching you anything, I want to share some reflection on what my experience was. To give you some further encouragements for your next steps.

I would like to point out that, whether we like it or not, our time is limited, and the rapture is very close. For this, I invite you to exercise your gifts for others. To render a service that coincides with what you are called to be and do, which represents your true contribution to the Kingdom.

Do not be afraid or deceived. If you really love God, try to live in obedience, and with labour and dedication you will be rewarded. I am convinced that each one of us was created for a purpose and to serve a unique purpose in God’s design. We must reflect on what we were born for, which coincides with the gifts bestowed on us. Without this inner passage it is difficult to move forward well. If we do not know God’s purpose on our lives, we can hardly meet our life missions. So always try to listen to that voice that tells you who you really are and what your mission in life is. There will be obstacles, difficulties, and temptations. We are amid unprecedented times, but if you stand with the Lamb, you will be part of His undoubted victory. Behold He comes with the sky and all eyes will see Him.

Meanwhile, I congratulate you again over your success.

Thank you.
