The Doctor of Ministry Degree program offers pastors, missionaries and leaders an opportunity for professional and personal growth.


The student will be equipped for a higher level of competent practice of ministry than that achieved in the foundation work. The candidates are challenged to develop their ministerial skills to refine and articulate a Biblical theology of ministry while in a setting of ministry.


This degree is ideal for those who serve the Church in congregational/ pulpit ministries; Para church organizations, mission agencies, and any other vocational ministry setting where advanced leadership skills and training would make a difference.


Career Options

Most students may envision a lead pastor preaching every Sunday in front of the congregation in a church. While working in a church is one facet of ministry, it’s certainly not the only one.


The course opens up your eyes to look at how ministry can take place wherever you are and here are some jobs you can pursue with a ministry degree: Lead Pastor, Youth Pastor, Children’s Pastor, Pastor of Visitation, Worship Director, Christian Teacher, Camp Coordinator, Spiritual Coach, Devotional Writer, Spiritual Care Coordinator, Bereavement Coordinator, Chaplain, Missionary, Counselor or Marketplace minister.


Program Learning Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of the Doctor of Ministry Degree the students should be able to:

  1. demonstrate an understanding of the theory and practice of personal spiritual formation
  2. gain knowledge of leadership development, personal leadership styles, the art of spiritual leadership, and learn how to apply this knowledge in ministry practice
  3. study historical and contemporary church movements and reflect on contemporary concerns in the practice of ministry
  4. be able to apply their knowledge in local ministry practice and will make a contribution to the greater Christian community
  5. demonstrate an advanced comprehension of the Biblical and theological foundations that inform Christian ministry
  6. demonstrate an advanced functioning as integrative, reflective practitioners of ministry
  7. develop greater professional competence in the practice of ministry
  8. demonstrate increased ability to integrate classical theological studies with functional studies in the context of the practice of ministry
  9. demonstrate a deep understanding of their personal and ministry strengths and weaknesses
  10. demonstrate enhanced competency in social/cultural analysis for ministry in the global context
  11. integrate a greater understanding of Scripture into various ministry contexts
  12. demonstrate advanced integration of Biblical and pastoral disciplines pertaining to ministry in the church

Admissions and Course Requirements

Applicants for admission must have completed a relevant master's degree or equivalent 45-postgraduate program from a recognized institution and demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the course language, English.


In order to graduate, students must successfully complete all of the core courses as well as a doctoral dissertation as listed below. Completing this track will lead to a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
